Annette Nyland
Lawyer
Annette attended Osgoode Hall Law School where she obtained her law degree in 2006. She has wanted to be a lawyer since she was a little girl and first watched the T.V. show “Matlock” with her grandparents. While practicing law in real life is very different from “Matlock”, it is something she is still passionate about years after being called to the Bar.
Annette is committed to helping clients during one of the most traumatic times of their lives. Her compassion and dedication to helping them understand our complicated legal system is what makes her stand out from the crowd.
Annette is also very dedicated to her community. She loves volunteering and is often found lending a helping hand on weekends to those in need.
When she is not working or volunteering, Annette loves to be outside golfing, hiking, and biking. Swimming is her favourite activity and most weekends during the summer she is swimming or paddle boarding in Georgian Bay, where she lives with her family. Annette has two dogs, a mini Goldendoodle and a Morkie that she can’t get enough of.
Hockey is her favourite sport to watch and she is a passionate fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, even though they break her heart every single year. She also loves soccer both locally (go TFC!) and internationally (Hup, Holland, Hup!)
As a lawyer, Annette takes the time to understand her clients’ needs and advocates fiercely for them. Her clients are her first priority. She enjoys the courtroom but knows that not all cases belong there. She will explore alternative dispute resolutions with her clients and often mediates cases. She is also trained to practice collaborative family law. Collaborative practice involves professionals working collaboratively and cooperatively to help their clients resolve their family law disputes out of court.
Annette is a member of the Simcoe County Family Law Association, the Simcoe County Collaborative Practice Group, the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, Women’s Law Association of Ontario and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
