Samah Rahman
Samah Rahman

Samah has an Hon. Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto. She then earned her Masters degree at the University of Waterloo and went on to complete her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa. Samah went on a 5-week backpacking road trip through Europe with her husband and toddler  and is also a member of the Canadian Muslim Lawyers Association. She loves hiking (during all seasons, in all weather), backpacking, checking out local farmer’s markets, and singing Bollywood tunes from the black and white era while playing her harmonium.

Nothing is more important to her than family. She is therefore, extremely tuned in to the implications of these major life transitions experienced by her clients. After gaining a thorough understanding of her client’s circumstances, rights and obligations, she guides them with exceptional sensitivity, understanding, and result-oriented service. Her goal is to ease an already stressful situation by ensuring she is accessible for, and candid with her clients.

Samah is able to anticipate and design both offensive and defensive strategies to protect her clients’ interests, in and out of court. She is a strong advocate for her clients and prefers taking a proactive approach to move matters forward. Samah has successfully argued motions, negotiated favourable settlements, and received cost awards with respect to parenting and property division issues. She has also worked on cases that pose religious barriers to separation, for instance in relation to Islamic Marriage Contracts.

Samah’s advocacy skills were recognized after winning the BLG Family Law Negotiation competition, and receiving the 2nd place award as the Top Negotiator at the National Walsh Family Law Negotiation Competition.

Samah offers legal services in English, Bengali, Urdu, and Hindi.
